Well, two extra certs are still two extra certs. But I agree it doesn't seem like much of an offer. Perhaps more importantly, I'm not sure it does much for United. For example, why not target non-Premiers (I'm not positive they didn't but my postcard has Premier branding). There must be a sizeable group that flys infrequently but possibly on full fare tickets. And a couple of upgrade certs probably would make more of an impression if you didn't have any. This way, United could incent an extra flight in Nov and another one early next year that might not have gone to United. (Premiers and above fly enough that they probably would not need to take an extra flight next year to use up the certs so it would have little effect next year, only in Nov). Or make the offer available on each flight in Nov.

Also, I got the card kinda late, around Nov. 7. Why not at least get the promo out in time?
