If you can depart SJC at 8:30 am, you can fly in comfort on an A-319. On 11/7 only 4 in First and less than 20 in coach. The 6:45am RJ had not yet left by the time the 8:30 real jet pushed and the 23 people on the A-319 included some from the 6:45am RJ. You're right, the CRJ move was shortsighted but the UA bean counters obviously felt they couldn't afford these shorthaul pax in WN markets so are content to let 'em fly WN.
