Well wouldn't you know it, a few weeks ago I was invited to go to CUN at the end of January to take an open hotel room that a friend ended up with because his business booked too many rooms in their room block for a conference. I checked DL.com and seats had opened up and I found 5 skysaver seats to CUN. Not planed in advance, but it worked out. The ticket price would have been well over $600, yet for 30k miles, I found seats. That's pretty good use of miles in my book considering that the cheapest coach fares to europe are $600+ and require 50k miles.
I was also able to change some BE seats this summer to a better flight that wasn't available when I booked the tickets, but five days before the flight home, we switched our flight and the trip ended up perfect. I don't think it's contradictory at all. You can find great seats at skysaver rates last minute, seats that weren't there in years past.
I can see that there are differing view points, but I think mine is a valid point for people like me. I've had great luck with miles as of late, and I burn them fast enough that I usually have no more than 300k miles, which works out perfect. I guess I gave my example to show that there are differing viewpoints and differing use of miles that don't presume the sky is falling with all of the changes. I have a lot of respect for Indufan, but when hear "Well, good luck getting SkySaver OR SkyChoice in the future." I guess I'm an optimist, but I seriously doubt Delta will just stop letting us redeem miles. I'm still having lots of luck! And as Jeff pointed out, it benefits DL to show they are reducing their overall miles outstanding. I think we'll still see people redeeming miles for tickets for years to come. And by then, I hope I'm over this addiction

Your luck should not color your view as to what is happening here. For as young and as hip as you may be, you will usually want to nail down your trips at least a month or two in advance, no? And again, this thread is about the value that Jeff has brought to the board, not your views on DL's changes.
