This is especially true with incoming international itineraries. In this
case, the OP is flying BRU-ATL, and will have to exit the plane, go
through immigration and customs, security, and the whole bit. The
only (small) benefit of this kind of routing is that the pax will not have
to pay the airport taxes at the intermediate stop. As others have
said, it sucks, and with experience you will learn to avoid these
routings.
