I think the baby bassinet is only for infants up to 8 months.
(after that the baby is too big/heavy). Maybe that was the reason
they did not want to reserve it.

I did not find any information on that subject on the Lufthansa website.
but Swiss states that the "baby basket" is for babys up to 8 months and
with a maximum weight of 10 kg.
