I doubt you'll have any problems. The shortages are mostly in the narrowbody fleets, especially the Airbus. We're not at all short on the 777 out of SFO, for example. UA also protects the international departures and has higher staffing levels on the widebodies. It's easier to rebook passengers on a IAD-SFO leg than cancel both a IAD/ORD-AMS and return (since the airplane won't get to Europe).
