If you are connecting over activesync (open activesync on the TyTn and see if it's connected to the Exchange server) then it won't use too much data at all.

It connects through activesync to your Exchange server using HTTP so there is no polling. You can however change the sync schedule, open Activesync and select "schedule". You'll see the "peak times" and "off-peak" times schedule for email delivery.
