Save your boarding pass however if you do this. Someone reported in another thread (and I'm not going to look for it!), that they called in a missing flight, and then tossed their boarding pass once the flight credited. 6 months later, the credit was reversed and the passenger no longer had the BP to prove they were on the flight. So they lost the miles.
