As mentioned before, very convenient to get to the offices in Maslak, very inconvenient to get to anything else, even with the shuttle (which leaves about every 2 hours). On my one self-directed tourism day, I took a taxi to and from the Levent Metro station (about $6 each way), then Metro in to the central city (0.75 each way, clean, easy to navigate). Short story, for sightseeing purposes, this is a terrible location.
Beyond the location, I would also would add a mixed review of the property overall... the revamped rooms were beautiful, and views from upper floors were breathtaking. However:
* 2 of the 3 of us experienced extremely hot rooms (25-27 C) in spite of cold weather outdoors. The only solution proposed by staff were to turn OFF the a/c and open a window. Because of 24hr/day construction on the metro station, this was a loud solution (although it did effectively cool the room after a day).
* 1 of the 3 of us had a pipe burst outside the door to her room, and had to be relocated.
* Prices are out of control. 22 Lira ($18US) for a Corona or similar in the lobby. 15 Euros ($25) for internet. 37 Lira ($33) for breakfast buffet (no a la carte options). There are almost no off site dinner restaurants withing walking distance (the food court at the mall a few blocks away actually has some OK Turkish options, but it is a food court). The Italian restaurant on site is high priced also, but actually pretty good food.
* While main room is beautifully decorated, bathrooms are still from the 80s and small.
Staff were friendly and helpful, although they didn't switch my room when I complained about the heat. The club room is very nice and same buffet you would pay 37 Lira for. I'm only gold, so wasn't assigned to the club floor. It was an extra 70 Euros per night, which obv includes breakfast and internet. Didn't sem worth it.
I've got the opposite problem of most visitors, I need to be in Maslak... as a result, it may not be pracctical for me to switch to another hotel on future trips due to the traffic. The Movenpick looked like a possible compromise, located directly at the Levent subway station... only 2KM from Maslak... but then I would have to take a taxi in to the office each morning through a massive traffic snarl. I think I will have to stick with the Sheraton until the subway dig gets through, or we find a new office.
When I was there in July they had free internet access through about 5 PC's just next to the front desk, as well as free wifi if you brought your own laptop. Breakfast was also included in my room rate (used points to stay.) While I too am only "Gold" we did get a very nice corner room on a high floor. Can't say if it was a club floor or not, but there was a nice fruit basket and two free bottles of water. While I agree the location isn't ideal, we got the from hotel to taksim and besiktas via minibus ($1.50) in 15 minutes with no traffic, or about a half hour during busier times.
