It is an older hotel now dating back to the early 1980s. They did a refurb around 2000 or so. It is still your basic run of the mill Hilton, nothing good or bad, just a Hilton. I did have friend stay there last year when visiting and they pretty much agreed it was just a room.
Downtown Greenville is very cool place these years. Some weekends you have to park blocks away to find a spot. Main Street will be busy with people everywhere. There are a number of incredible restaurants and pubs. Also the West End which is a block or 2 from Main Street has been revitalized. Very chic and upscale places that you would not expect in Greenville South Carolina. Downtown is a very exciting place today with all the activity and new development. Lofts are going for a pretty good price there.
The best eating joints'
Sobys - Charleston style cuisine
Restaurant O - best steak in town
Bergamos - Italian from the old country
Sassafras - Low country
Trios - Brick over pizza
Lattittude - Great seafood, fresh from the coast daily.
Enjoy.....
Thanks, I worked there 25 years ago and the city was dulllllllll. You know how people describe a city as a great place to raise children (translation = boring)? 25 years ago it was a great place to raise children. I'm blown away at the change since then.
I arrived at 10:00, drank 3 Sam Adams at the bar, watched college football and went to bed in order to get up early the next morning to keep driving.
I'd like to come back for a visit some time. A couple years ago I tried to find my old house and felt like they had relocated half the streets.
