Another Sydney hotel buffet

Grace Hotel, Sydney (cnr Clarence & King St, near QVB/Town Hall)
A Christmas lunch through work, only $32/head (incl. a large glass of bubbly or wine)
Surprisingly tasty food! (Listing of buffet is linked there)

On the buffet:
  • 'Appetisers' Soup (leek and potato on this day IIRC) & bread selection (why fill up on carbs at a buffet? )
  • Prawns aka shrimp (peeled), mini octopus salad, vietnamese paper spring rolls, oriental pork
  • Small carvery with beef and lamb, beef casserole, fish tikka
  • Buffet favourites such as a variety of potato salads & other salad/carb dishes
  • Salads, fruits
  • Large dessert selection with more than ten choices plus a couple of decent icecreams (inc. coffee!)
Some of us are skeptical of buffet food quality but were impressed with the freshness and quality of the offerings.

Room for improvement?
Tea and coffee as part of the buffet. Eating so much made us all bloated and sleepy. Christmas (like Thanksgiving) indeed!

Atmosphere:
The atmosphere at the Grace is okay, nothing too downmarket (though no grand piano performance at this buffet ) and what one would expect of a midsize 3* business hotel in the CBD.

Verdict
Compliments to the chef, cooks and floor staff here - a well-run show. ^
