Platinum will be better, but these routes are by no means "easy" upgrades. Easier than transcons, perhap, but still not easy. LGW has nothing for free, so that's out. IAH is pretty hard (though someone claimed there were 5 empties on Monday night IAH-EWR), as is AUS. I've missed the PHX upgrade more than I've received it, both for day flights and the redeye. FLL has been a pretty good one to me, though not as good as MCO. I don't know about DFW as I flew AA last time I went there.

In short, everyone's experiences will vary, and I'd never pay $1800 last minute to make the next level, but I think that your routes aren't a lock for the upgrades as a platinum.
