EWR-IAH is always a tough upgrade. I have heard that EWR-FLL is rather easy most times of the year. I can't speak to the other domestic routes (DFW/PHX/AUS) from EWR. As I mentioned earlier, getting a cash+mi BF upgrade is a gamble, regardless of what status you have.
