Agree that OP needs 90 minutes at FCO and thus OP is in trouble here. Leaves Rome at 9:05 and w/no traffic gets there by 9:45 maybe? 11:00 am to ORD (sounds like AA 111 to me), and according AAs conditions of carriage:

"For flights originating outside the U.S., you must check in 60 minutes before departure, and be present at the departure gate and ready to board at least 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time to retain your reservation and a seat."

FCO is chaotic and busy in the am. This is cutting it very, very close esp. since you are counting on the conference session ending on time and being in the cab immediately thereafter.
