Sears Rewards

Wonder if anyone could offer some advice here.

Been paying sears $25 per year for some time for the sears rewards program.

April 07 received a notice that if I dont turn a certain amount of points in, they would be lost. Due to a time frame as I work on a ship in the great lakes a decided to take four certificates for $50 each. They arrived and stayed in my top draw till now.

Just arrived home for Christmas, only to find they have expired and unable to redeem them to buy gifts.

Contacted them, they said there is nothing they can do, saying that I should have got cards which dont expire.

This sounds so typical, when trying to decide what to redeem, who knows or even realises that a certificate or a card even has an expiry date. Why would it have an expiry and even if it does, why cant it be re-issued?

I am extreemly upset about this and customer service couldn't care less, and told me to have a nice day.

Any suggestions please, and even is this a good thread for this question,
many thanks...
