Agreed with the LIN recommendation - altho in terms of fog, it's not limited to MXP, IME they both get affected in the winter...LIN is also a much smaller airport to navigate. You always get bussed to and from the plane at LIN whereas at MXP for me its been nearly always Much much quicker to get from arrivals back to BA check in at LIN (assuming no OLIC etc), MXP has this weird extra security arrangement to go thru for LHR flight check in.

Will disagree that there isn't anything to see in Milan on a quick trip - plenty of museums, art galleries and the like, and did i mention the shopping Early next year the sales will be on and they can be pretty good
