First ex-EU Trip - LIN, MXP or FCO?

Having read the Ultimalte ex-EU thread, I'm hoping some of the old lags out there can help...

Planning an LHR-NRT trip in I for early next year. Italy seems to be the best starting point based on price. Will prob travel back2back LHR to LIN, MXP or FCO but I'm worried as the turnaround time is only about an hour at each if I fly ex-LHR that morning.

Question is, which airport is easiest given an hour's leeway to get back on the plane to start the [LIN/MXP/FCO]-LHR-NRT section?

I plan using BA for the outward leg, rationale being that if there is delay getting to LIN or wherever, I am more likely to get it sorted if it's BA taking me out there as opposed to AL or whoever. Or am I dreaming?

If I have to spend a night in Milan, so be it, bit that would mean one night fewer in Japan...

Any helpful advice appreciated...
