Sorry for my imprecision - I was tailoring my remarks to the question. I've been at that longitude at this time of year. The sun just makes it above the horizon and the interval is short. The point for the OP is that for outdoor snow activities this is very limiting and there are places that can make it easier with more light and less travel.
