Flying from SYD last month captain gave the reason that there is only a small window of a couple of hours or so to fly through Afghanistani airspace and if you miss that slot then it adds another hour to journey? Not sure how true that is? Was over 14.5 hours from SIN in the end with no IFE for last 8 hours
