Anyone else ever have this issue? Am I just SOL? If this is how they are going to treat a PM who has well over 100 nights each of the past 3 years and already have over 40 booked for next.... well, maybe I need to rethink my hotel preferences. Am I overreacting? (I don't need the points, having almost 1mm banked, it's the principal).
I can see why the auditor might initially question the extra miles however given the information you provided I'm confused by MR's response - since the hotel was able to use the points they should be able to credit the points back without having to purchase any additional miles - it's very simple for hotels to do and shouldn't raise a red flag with anyone if done correct (because of the wording in MR's response to you it does appear as though the hotel did properly process the cert) - In this case I would encourage you to not respond back (wow-perhaps I'm in a mood but what a terrible email response to send to a guest, talk about not meeting a guests expectation) I would forward that email to either the General Manager or Marriott Guest Relations (I would normally refer you to the hotel first but I believe the issue is MR in this case so I'd actually contact Guest Relations first but either method should resolve the issue but I'm more confident it will be addressed with the person who sent the email if you go via Guest Relations)
