The routing rules do specify that you fly non stop from CUN-GDL , so if there is no flight that can be used then you cannot fly it and so cannot have a stopover.

AA is stating that I can fly SAT-GDL via a host of cities. They even explicitly state I can stop over for free in CUN. I would like to do that. Now they are saying I can't.

I do not expect them to add a flight for me, I just wish they would decomplicate their own rules or provide a solution when they create one of these.

I had another EXP desk agent look at this and he was even willing to put me me on CO but since they would have routed me via IAH, this won't work.

Bummer...
