Sure they can...they can call SALES SUPPORT for a waiver code. Whether DL is willing to give them one is another issue.
I'd be willing to call Delta again, but my last 3 attempts have come to the agent saying. That it's impossible* and that the travel agent has to do it.
And in all three of those attempts those agents are correct. The travel agent booked the ticket, the travel agent goofed, the travel agent needs to fix it...end of story! Why is DL responsible for fixing something they didn't break?
But why lie to me? It's just ridiculous.
Who's lying to you? Not the DL agents. It is impossible for them to do what you want, they can't give waiver codes, only sales support can, and only the travel agent has the ability to call them...not you and not the frontline agents.
Sounds like a lazy TA to me, certainly not uncommon amongst travel agents in 2007.
