Installing 3rd party apps to iPod touch... is it now safe?
I've been traveling for the past couple of months so I've not kept up with the news as to whether it is safe to install third-party applications on my iPod touch [Version 1.1.2 (3B48b)] or will I turn it into a brick. I'm planning on installing some of these apps on my iPod touch during the Christmas break.

1. Is it now safe?
2. If anything goes wrong, can I go back to my previous state?
3. Favorite apps?
4. Favorite online resource?
