Exactly. The DC-10's specs were driven, in part, by AA's requirement that it be able to fly in/out of LGA.
Delta routinely flies 767s at LGA, although those might be dwindling as DL re-deploys the widebodies to international routes. Even AA has flown 767s there on occasion.
