No. SpiceJet charges by weight of luggage. I made this same mistake last yr - bought their cheap basic fare but while checking in w/'em after transiting from int'l to domestic terminal I had to pay for the excess weight. I forget what their allowed limits are but I remember paying just abt the same as a full fare Y ticket w/Jet.
As to the other comment where Jet/Indian allow you to take your luggage if you can show them you have just arrived from N. America - I can't comment directly on that, but - on my way back to the US I'd purchased a cheap Jet ticket to BOM in INR - but at the domestic airport they made me pay the difference anyway betn that and the full economy fare anyway due to the luggage (paying by weight would have been more expensive). Good thing abt that though - was that they checked my baggage all the way to my US destination from my domestic start point in India ^
