Mileage credit when they don't have an English name

So last weekend I did a trip on NH from Tokyo to Okinawa. I booked it through NH's Japanese web site, which never asked for my name in English (only phonetically in Japanese). The site did get my UA MP number, and my boarding passes said "UA *S" on them which was somewhat reassuring.

Are the miles going to post automatically? Are the systems between UA and NH "smart" enough to work out that the Japanese name in NH's system is the same as my English name? I'm particularly curious because this trip gets me 1P status for next year, and I'd like to get that on record ASAP for potential travel in January.
