Unlike T-24h which is exact to the minute (unless its T-25 or T-23, but it should say in MMB), T-3d is only approximate. Bear in mind that most pax don't even know about extra seats becoming available at this time.
Come to think of it, now I recall that someone suggested that the T-3d stuff all happens at midday, or something like that, on the day in question, regardless of the flight time. I'm not sure about this, but it sounds plausible based on my own experience.
