I don't know if you've seen this before, but KIRO-TV did a great story on thefts from airport passenger baggage. The story is called "Access To Steal."

The website for the story has an outstanding resource. Pick your state, choose an airport, and look at all the stolen property reports for laptops, jewelry, etc.

I have a question about these thefts. I've heard that many of the luggage screening rooms are not monitored by video security systems. This seems incredible. Most of the thefts seem to be solved when either someone recognizes their stolen property on Ebay or when some dimwitted thief somehow adds his picture or information to a cellphone.

Is it true that many of the baggage search areas are not monitored by video security systems? If so, who at the TSA should get the complaints about this situation?
