Not surprised. AC is a really crappy airline, however sometimes we just have no other choices (considering I am trying to get the E on AC myself).
I just finished a trip from YYJ to DPS with AC & SQ last week. Very interesting contrast, from service, IFE, Food...
On the way out, AC7 was delayed by 4 HOURS in YVR with all the passengers ON BOARD, because AC wanted to wait for all the connecting passengers! The AC granny refused to serve anything and said it was the federal policy. She even said to a hungry customer that he should have packed some snacks himself! ...! Also, because there was no VOD on board, the 17 hrs on board was just a nightmare.
Once landed at HKG, AC refused to provide hotel vouchers to passengers who missed their connecting flights and held a separate ticket- I was one of them. Eventually, I did get a voucher from the AC concierge lady, after arguing with 3 other agents. Also, they promised to change my SQ reservations for me but that never happened.
One the way back, the check-in agent showed completely lack of training and questioning my travel document, even after her colleague and supervisor said ok. I am not holding a CDN pp btw. However, I have at least 5 cdn entry stamps on my newest pp. Although ground handling were outsourced at HKG, i'd credit it to AC.
I do agree that there are some really great people working at AC/QK, but the majority just put AC at shame.
