I err on the conservative side when transiting at FRA. Even with an hour, I've had some close calls when the landing gets a little delayed, and they have to shuttle us to a gate and security lines are long.
Once, I was stuck in the security line behind a couple that had purchased duty free perfume/cosmetics that was beyond the allowed 100ml limit. What peeved me was that my bags had already passed through the detector, but the agent who was dealing with the couple was perhaps not fluent in english and she asked her colleague who was manning the detector to speak to them. My bags had passed through the detector without incident, but were stuck behind the plexiglass shield and I couldn't retrieve it. I asked the agent manning the WTMD to let me get my bags but she wouldn't, and the other two agents were taking time to explain the rules to the couple who insisted on arguing their case.
Geez. Don't they have a system to deal with such situations and not hold up the line unnecessarily?
Anyway, I have a connection in FRA next week, and went for the 2hr transit vs. a 50min one though it was permitted for my itinerary.
