i had this same problem, I was initially booked into D for a segment on the 380(for a CPSTAR2) and needed to change by a day. Saw D space open on that day on the 380, emailed TA and thought all would be good. When I looked next there was still D space on the 380 on date I wanted but I was on the daytime 744 flight and waitlisted on the 380. This is issued by SQ (and I never cleared so am on the 744 later this week). Never got a straight answer, I thought if D was greater than 1 than I should have gotten on... apparently not

Does anyone know if the *A carriers would see different inventory on this fare? If not, is there a code word or phrase to tell the UA agents so they can book this flight?
