Yeah, different airlines use different reservations systems (e.g. Sabre, Apollo, Amadeus), and airlines often make seats available to the various systems differently. My company's old corp. travel agency used Sabre, and they claimed flights were booked out on LH when UA (Apollo) and LH (Amadeus) disagreed. Then again they were also a shoddy agency. But I digress...
If you're booking a CP fare and flying on SQ long-haul, try booking through someone other than UA (e.g. NZ?) if UA doesn't see availability.
