What's irritating about them is that they show up on my VISA card long after I checked out.

That is funny how experiences differ so much. I do not think that I have ever had a minibar charge show up after I have checked out. I had something show up after I checked out about a year ago, but I can't even remember what it was now, but whatever it was I got it refunded. Oh, that reminds me of something else. Have you ever tried to argue a charge with a desk clerk at a hotel on a Caribbean island? Not easy, it is a cultural thing, they take the position that if it is on the bill then it must be correct, no matter what it is, and the only way out of the situation is if a manager happens to wander by. That has happened to me a couple of times, though I would not consider it a Marriott thing per se. I do think that it could be corrected with some better or more extensive diversity training though, but that is the case with any company that has local employees and deals with customers from all over the world. I am headed to Aruba on Tuesday, I am sure that I will have at least once conversation such as that while I am there.
