There was a list of charges posted in the past (Spottie?), but somehow £600 for a one-way onboard WT+ -> Club upgrade seems to ring a bell...

Another option for one direction at least would be to buy the 12,500 miles for the MFU. IIRC that's actually cheaper than £600 for the one-way onboard upgrade, but you're limited to 19,000 (or some other odd number?) per year. Now I come to think of it, the trip to LAX will earn ~6,000, so an upgrade on the return might be viable, though I think there's some other rule about not being able to upgrade the return once you've flown the outbound.
