LHR-AMS-YYZ on KL:
Actually get out of LHR relatively early so of course we have to wait on the tarmac when we land at Schipol.
Kill time in the Airport. Go through the gate screening to the tiny, tiny waiting room. Wait. Wait some more. Finally, we're told that the incoming plane is having mechanical problems so we'll have to wait a bit more. Then they decide to change gates. So yet another gate screening (with an overly enthusiatic patdown by a strapping Dutch lad). And then more waiting.
About 5 hours after getting to AMS we finally get on the plane. And then we wait some more. And then the captain comes on the intercom to announce that he's sorry but we can't leave as the jetway is stuck to the plane and they're going to have to get a mechanic to detach it (normally, he said we'd just back away and let it fall off but due to the configuration of this gate that would make it fall on the wing).
Wait for mechanic. Hear loud banging sounds coming from the door. New announcement foom the captain, "Well, we've got the jetway detached but it kind of hit the wing. So we'll have to have someone check that out." Finally, they decide there aren't any noticeable holes in the plane and we do the usual 5 mi taxi at Schipol and take off.
Thankfully, the rest of the flight was quite uneventful and we landed without incident at YYZ.
