The property is the lower level of a condo building. The pool is nice but over run, the gym is ancient, the area is "iffy" and not a "destination".
On a reward it is possible to be upgraded, but its based on availablitity. The one good thing about this property is the rooms are oversized.
You don't mention what your status is but as a Diamond, I've been assigned suites at this property and a friend who is gold was assigned a double bed room that include a sitting area and balcony.
I recall for a while there were issues with the property giving breakfast certificates because they didn't have an "on site" restaurant and the restaurant they had in the attached "mall" went out of business.
To me its a hotel to stay at if yo have friends in the area, but not a "destination" property as you have to drive to everything.
Personally I wouldn't stay again, If I had to stay on the mainland with kids I would go with the Conrad or stay at the Doubletree in Coconut Grove.
RE restaurant, I havent been there for 1 1/2 yrs, always enjoyed this Hotel ^ Is the restaurant that closed the spanish style steakhouse? They would let me UG my breakfast coupon for steak and eggs for additional $5
