When I first moved to AMS last year my company put me up in a hotel for two weeks--Golden Tulip if anyone cares. A few days into the stay I asked the front desk attendant to have my minibar emptied out so I could use it to store food.

Of course, two days later a charge for 300some euros shows up on my bill...

Long story short, tried to get it fixed a bunch of times, and finally at checkout they "took care of it" but actually just charged it to my company instead. Company gets the bill, says we won't pay this, and two months later my personal Amex gets the charge. They "took care of it" once more but still didn't come off my card.

Finally had to do a chargeback, got the credit a month or two later.

To add insult to injury, the dollar had strengthened so my refund was smaller than the charge! (Amex was nice enough to fix that for me.)

So I avoid the minibar like the plague now.
