Quebec in December/January? Am I crazy?

Howdy,

I ahve always wanted to go to Montreal and Quebec City -- and I know I am going to get flamed for this -- but after that diNiro movie "The Score," which was filmed in Montreal, I have wanted to go even more these days. Well, I have a company trip on 1/4 that might just allow me to go up there at a very low (ugh...none) cost to theblakefish! Mont Tremblant was first on my list, witht he new service from EWRl, but I cannot get a room at the Homewood (Hilton) there, looking to go 12/30-1/3.

The question here is...am I nuts? I know that NE Canada is a bit chilly this time of the year, but New Year's sucks, so I might as well enjoy it in Montreal, then take the VIA up to YQB and enjoy a few days in the capital city.

Is this a good idea? I will probably only have a decent opportunity to go there now, and not in the Summer. Plus, usually, YUL and YQB are more expensive to get to from Houston than Paris is....for whatever reason...so I want to take advantage of it as soon as I can! Can anyone give me a heads-up on this? I am thinking YUL for New Years, although I hear that YQB is cool as well, so I might just kick it there for 4 nights and then continue on to my meeting in San Diego.

Any advice on a yea or nay on Montreal would be appreciated, as I think that Quebec City is the right move....but is it cool? Is it too cool that time of the year? Many thanks, and Cheers! ^
