I know that UA has published that 1K's are offered free upgrades on the Shuttle if there is space avail at the gate.

Will my recently confirmed upgrade for my LA flight on Tue require me to turn in a 500 elec cert when checking in, or does this fall under the "free" upgrade benefit? Since I have not flown the shuttle since I became 1K, I am 100% not sure of the policy.

Other 1K's? What have your experiences revealed?
