CO has plenty of newer planes. In fact, they have newer planes than Virgin America, whose planes are used.
I believe all of VX's planes are ordered new by them. Some have been stored or leased to other companies (like Skybus), I'll consider them "new". And none older than 1.5 year.
When CO starts getting 739ERs and placing them on transcon, CO will have the newer planes for those routes.
