I've been going back and forth between the pros and cons of travelling between North America (LAX or SFO) and SIN (final destination of MLE) on a chase the sun itinerary (11/15) or a chase the night itinerary (27/1).

If we travel via LAX/TPE or SFO/HKG, is it correct to assume that Dinner will be served immediately upon take off in the early early morning hours? It seems that my wife and I will want to sleep right away given our body clocks, and miss out on much of the First class service. However, the upside is that we'll arrive in SIN in late morning.

If we travel on the SFO>ICN or LAX>NRT flights, we'll be wide awake when we depart, and able to enjoy a leisurely long multicourse meal, etc. However, we'll be arriving in SIN at 1am in the morning (of course, it will be 10am for our body clocks).

I'd love to hear the opinions from those who have taken these long haul transpacific trips, and what your opinions either way may be.

Also, we'd like to make a stopover. What are the pros and cons of stopping in SIN vs. HKG? Is the new First on the 77W that much better than the First on the 747? So many decisions!
