I'm not so sure. As I read it, TSA will have barcode readers, like the kind that ticket-takers use when you go into a sporting event or concert. And the data will be encoded. IMHO, it's harder to generate the encoded data in a bar code than it is to fake something else.
This will make faking it much harder, but will also open the door to tracking, database access, problems with computer failures, barcodes not read, etc. About 25% of the time a gate agent has trouble with bar codes on their machines - the handheld readers are less reliable. It also opens the door for TSA to conduct more of a dragnet then they already do (e.g. checking wants/warrants, parking tickets, etc.).
"I'm sorry sir, the bar code can't be read so it's invalid. You must go back to the counter to get a valid boarding pass".
This will be a nightmare.
