the second is not a good option for me particularly since I am traveling from IAD and I end up with 4 hops before I reach my destination India. (IAD to LA to Hong Kong to Bombay).
Also found out that there are a very restricted number of seats available per leg of every journey. So if you are traveling from A to C via B and back, then you may not get available seats for all the legs of the journey !!!!! Nice way of BA to disallowing & discouraging you to use your miles.
Feels like I m abeing taken for a ride...not on BA of course.
Thanks for your help though.
Mark.
Actually IAD-LAX-HKG-BOM is 3 hops, and of course there have to be available seats to book any award trip. As far as I know, BA miles can't be used for any transatlantic carrier except BA, but you certainly could use them for BA services IAD-LHR-BOM.
You have to be flexible on travel dates for longhaul awards, too. I'd phone back and ask when you might be able to travel.
