In all fairness to US, I say good riddance to the $178 PHL-LAX fares. Sure, they were a steal, and I took advantage of them often enough....but there's no profit to be made by shuttling every Tom, Dick and Harry across the country on what it costs to fill up the gas tank of your typical SUV these days.

On the flip side, $1,900 for a refundable coach fare is inexcusable.
