Anyway just got my F boarding pass HKG - YVR. Problem solved for that at least. I got really lucky. Bumps in MEL were because every flight from MEL to HKG is overbooked because of summer break for college kids. Who would of thought in December?!
I am glad everything worked out for you. I was not expecting that you could get in J on the MEL-HKG segment because of your Y ticket. However, as your have the rest in F, CX probably liked you to have a pleasant journey.
I hope you have had an enjoyable trip. I see that you have undergone a lot of anxiety on the return flights.
