car seat advice needed
I'm flying BA next week from Seattle to Manchester (via LHR) with my super-wiggly 18 month old. She's right at the weight limit for the Britax seats so I decided to buy a seat for her and bring her car seat.
My problem is I have no idea if they will accept the seat or not. I've heard so many different things. We're flying World Traveller (still cost me nearly $1600!) so the space is 31". My biggest concern is the size of my car seat. I have a Graco Toddler SafeSeat Step 2. The dimensions for the base are within the seat (as far as I can get). I'm concerned about the 26" the CAA requires from the back rest on the car seat to the back of the seat in front. It's a forward facing only, 5 point restraint, has the airline certified sticker on it and can be attached with just the lap belt. So everything else is covered (I think).
My concern is what happens if they say it can't be used? Do I then have to deal with a screaming toddler on my knee for 9.5 hours? I can't get an answer from BA about whether or not they'll accept this seat. It's about the same size as a Britax Diplomat. But no one can tell me. So do I show up with it and risk getting told no, or is there some way I can find out definitively whether or not it's acceptable. I don't want to go spend another $100 on another car seat if she can use the one she's used to. The thing about this one is it reclines without having to recline the seat (so the person behind her will be happy). It's much better for her to sleep in so I really want to use it if I can.
Any suggestions would be really welcomed.
