I also thought that this was very interesting as I have not seen it before... I just purchased a Dec ticket from Boston to Hong Kong, and saw the availability of Q "consoldiator fares" on united.com. The only fares available from orbitz and other TAs as well as UA Res were H fares.

The price difference was not much (only $100 savings compared to H fare), but I do not plan on upgrading, and at $1150 I thought it was high enough.

Thankfully as a 1P I was able to pick from all available seats, including Y+ and Exit Rows.
