I heard the same kinds of things from some friends who stayed at the Casa for the Parrotheads Meeting of the Minds gathering this November. The folks working there were good, but the folks running the place left a lot to be desired.
And I'm at least a decent tipper as well. I watch a lot of people being very cheap, feeling that if someone can work in KW, they can afford it easily and don't need to leave a tip. And you are right - I'm surprised I'm remembered the next year or so. Even what I drank - I went to a local drinking establishment to watch a football game. The manager set up the game for me and a few others on one TV. Been there before, and planned on being there most of the day (sometimes rain comes in handy as an excuse) I ordered a drink, and was going to get something to eat, when the manager came over and turned the TV to another game that no one was watching and moved me and the other folks. That left the waitress with a total of 1 person to wait on. After I went to my new seat, I went back to her and told her 'Sorry we were moved. It wasn't your fault, and I don't want ya to lose out too much, so here...' and I gave her $20, which probably would have been my tip for the time I would have been there. The next year I went back, not to watch a game but have a beer or 2, and she was working again, and she came over to me w/ the bartender, telling her I was the nice Browns fan from last year who was drinking Yuenglings who tipped her when I didn't have to.
Anyway, rw55, glad ya had a nice time down there. When you're down at the Pier House and at that end of the island, give a call and stop into the Cypress House to check it out. Head over around 6p (Happy Hour time) and I wouldn't be surprised if they offered ya a beverage while showing ya around.
