I think that's reasonable. At 23K miles, you're too far off to do MR's back to PLT for the 07 qualifying year (well, never say never...). Remembering that you retain PLT status thru Feb 08, and that you are going for EXP in the 08 qualifying year, you'd only have a few months 'exposed' as GLD between when your current status expires and when you qual for PLT on your way to EXP.
