Qantas pilot collapses in cockpit
The captain of a
Qantas jet flying over the middle of the Pacific Ocean collapsed, causing an alert to be sent to Australia and setting emergency crews at Cairns on standby, the Transport Safety Bureau stated in a report released today.
The captain was in charge of a Qantas 767-300 overnight flight from Nagoya, Japan, to Cairns on July 9 this year. He had just handed over the controls to his co-pilot at 4pm (Co-ordinated Universal Time), when he collapsed.
Guess this is the reason why the pilot and co-pilot have to eat different meals.
